THE BIG HELLO
Welcome to the fourth week of CHUD.com newsletter softcore feastiality.
While every one of you busted your butt, infected the world with your sensuality, or hid in a closet of your own doing, afraid to face the music, we were pounding out content this past week. Some of it good, some of it better, and all of it saturated with the moistness one expects from this site.
That's enough. I'm even grossed out by me. Here's some stuff:
BEERFEST!
I promised that this newsletter would beat the site to the punch on some stuff, so here it is. I had a chance to see the newest Broken Lizard comedy this morning and let me just tell you that it's going to rip shit up in your neighborhood. It's unbelievably funny and with Talladega Nights kicking comedic ass this weekend it looks like we're in for a great August. We'll be interviewing Eric Stolshanke and Steve Lemme (who is insanely funny in the flick) for a special segment for the CHUD.com podcast and hopefully chatting the other fellas thereafter. I know a lot of you are big fans of the boys, so if you have something you NEED asked, pop us an email. Even more cool, because the movie is so fun and so much a group adventure I'm inviting the Atlanta Chewers who read this newsletter to join us for a post-screening drink at the nearest and bestest bar. Might be fun to talk shop with some of you squirmers, especially after seeing, what we'll be seeing. Check this forum ( http://www.chud.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=55) on the site for updates once I get my passes in the mail.

RETRO ACTIVE
The CHUD Rerun section is killing three birds: One, it's allowing me to piece by piece integrate old material into the new chassis. Two, it's showing the new readers some of the stuff that got the site to the rickety and crotchety way it is today. Three, it creates massive discussion. 23 posts, most of them from me! It's a juggernaut I tell you! Here's the latest:
Why did I review IT on DVD anyhow?

UNTITLED HORROR FLICK UPDATE
I still can't spill, but the horror film I'll be a producer on is getting into gear to shoot on the East Coast in October on 35mm with a few names you may recognize. People younger than 30, perhaps? I'm still looking for handful of really creative and... um, inexpensive web designers and artists to help make it a reality. If you want your name in the credits of a threatrical release and a really small paycheck, pop me a message if you can bear it.

I just saw on Fox News that Nostradamus predicted the end of the world for August 2006. If that?s true, I have some bad news for you - you'll never see the Prognosticator again. If Nostradamus is wrong, you?ll be seeing the mildly popular column returning this September with a new format. What's that format going to be? I don't know yet, but Nick has browbeaten me into bringing the thing back and we both think that the Prognosticator can be improved. For those of you who don't remember what the Prognosticator was, it's a monthly feature that looks ahead to all the movies being released in the next 30 days and says some unforgivably mean things about them.
In other news, I have an interview with Adam McKay, the director of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, where we discuss the recent history of comedy. It's been something I have been thinking about a lot, probably because I'm currently single, and I'm interested in your thoughts. It seems to me like much of the 90s were a comedy wasteland, and that there's been a big swing towards truly funny movies in the last few years that coincides with a return of ensemble comedies. Let me know what you think - email me at devin@chud.com
Finally, take a look at this dipshit:

Holy crap.

As you may have noticed, a lot of material that was collected during Comic Con (and beyond!) has already spilled onto the site, but there's still more stuff clogged in the pipe and it'll be trickling onto CHUD at a sporadic pace. Watch for lots of stuff on SNAKES ON A PLANE! Not to mention the lengthy coverage of Zak Penn's poker movie THE GRAND, plus whatever else we dredge up. The heat of summer (oh sweet Belial, the heat!) and the frigid dead of winter (also known as "the holidays") are generally the slowest times of year for big Hollywood dealmaking, so movie news and announcements tends to be sluggish, but we'll be throwing out contests and columns to keep you occupied!
Oh, and THE DESCENT is indeed one of the better crafted horror flicks to come out in at least the past decade, so if you want to feed your desire for quality frights or test your tolerance for claustrophobia, definitely check it out this weekend.
